College Prep Fall Semester

Grade Level:        8th – 12th



In this course, students will learn how to chisel themselves to fit the colleges of their choice. The course covers the entire admission process, writing effective essays, searching for scholarships, researching majors, researching colleges, and breaking down each section of the Redesigned SAT.  Students will take 2 official practice SATs and will be encouraged to take the SAT at the end of the course. 


This is a one-semester course.  The cost of the course is $270 for the semester ($67.50 per month) and $25 for materials. There is no online component for this class. Registration fees for homeschool classes at various locations (LAC, Metro, etc) also apply.

Lectures and Class Time

Class time will primarily be spent on instruction. Students should bring notebooks, writing utensils, and either laptop, smartphone or tablet to each class.


There is no textbook for this class

Homework, Tests and Grades

Students will be given specific assignments to complete each week. Assignments will consist of participation (15%), essay writing (25%), portfolio presentation (40%) and SAT scores (20%).

Internet Access

Access to a computer with a high speed internet connection is required for all students. Students will be required to conduct research and to write essays during classroom time.
