Parents and Students,
We are looking forward to the beginning of this school year next week. Below is information about the procedures at
Eastside for the next several months.
Please be patient as we try to work things out to make Eastside as safe
as possible for everyone.
please do not come to class if within the
past 72 hours you or any member in your immediate household has
experienced any of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath or
difficulty breathing, loss of smell/taste, muscle pain, chills, sore throat,
runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a temperature of 100F or greater or if
in the last two weeks you or anyone in your immediate household has experienced
any known exposure to Covid-19 including visiting, cohabiting, or being in
close contact with anyone who has tested positive for the virus or has symptoms
of the virus.
As I have mentioned in my previous emails, we will
be taking the temperature of everyone entering the building. Parents,
please stay around in the event that your student has a temperature over 100
degrees Fahrenheit. If a student has
a temperature above 100 after two tests, he or she will be sent home.
Mondays: Since there are only a few
classes on Mondays, the teachers will check the student’s temperatures upon
Tuesdays: On Tuesdays, the
temperature checks will take place at the entrance to the Youth Building which
is the only entrance open on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Thursdays: On Thursdays, the
temperature checks will take place at the entrance to the Youth Building and at
the Fellowship Hall entrance. However, the doors to the Youth Building
will be locked 15 minutes after the class period begins. Therefore, any late students will have to
enter the building through the Fellowship Hall doors and have their
temperatures checked there; they can then proceed down the hall to the
other end of the building to their class.
We are making every effort to keep at least 6 ft distance between fellow students
and teachers at all times. Students will line up
to enter the building 6 ft apart while waiting for their temperature checks.
Then, students will be seated in the classrooms at
least 6 ft apart. We will not have more
than two people in the restrooms at a time. Students are asked to maintain the
6 ft distance as they are walking to and from classes. We will not have students congregating
together without being socially distant.
Everyone is required to wear a mask or face shield in the hallways and in the
bathrooms. Students are required to
comply with the teachers’ mask policies within the classrooms.
Students will use hand sanitizer, provided by parent donations, upon
entering the building. Students are
asked to use sanitizer throughout their time in the building. Eastside will be purchasing cleaning supplies
for the teachers to wipe down the tables between classes.
The church's water fountains are off limits due to COVID-19. We are therefore asking students to bring
their own water bottles to use while in the building.
Students will be able to bring their lunches and eat from 12:15 – 12:45 as
usual. However, lunch will take place in
the third period classrooms or in the Study Hall if a student is signed up for
the third period Study Hall. We are
asking all other students to leave the building after the second period classes
are over. Students should bring lunches that
do not need to be microwaved.
Room Locations and Contact Information:
You will enter through the doors on
the ends of the building, not at the church office entrance. The classroom
numbers are found in the course descriptions and on the Weekly
Schedule on the Eastside website. The FH
classes are located on the side of the Fellowship Hall with the entrance from
the Lawrenceville Highway parking lot. All of the other classes are
held in the Youth building that has its entrance on the other side of the
building under the portico. Steinman Hall is on the first floor and the other
classrooms are on the second floor. There is a Facility Floor Plan in the About Us
section of the website.
Study Hall will be held in the open space on the second floor of the Youth
building on Tuesdays and in the Fellowship Hall on Thursdays.
Please do not call or drop off items for students at the LAC office. You can call my cell phone number – 404-408-4504
- if you have any questions regarding the facility or Eastside activities.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up
Students should be dropped off at least 15 minutes before the beginning of
class in order to go through the temperature check 6 ft apart. Parents should not leave until students have
had their temperatures checked. Students
must be picked up within 15 minutes of the end of class. Parents may be charged if students are
consistently not picked up within that time.
