Announcement: Brit Lit's Trial of Frankenstein - Tuesday, March 10, 10:00am

One Mission Church, Steinman Hall

Eastside’s British Lit students will be staging a civil trial of Victor Frankenstein on March 10. Students have studied Frankenstein and volunteered to be lawyers or witnesses for the defendant and plaintiff.  Guest jurors will be able to choose for themselves if Frankenstein should be found liable of negligence, malpractice, and emotional distress in the case brought by his creation. We have community lawyers who have been coaching the legal teams and witnesses so the class can do this unscripted—we won’t know the outcome until the jury announces its verdict at the end of the trial.

If you want to be a juror and are 13 or older and think this sounds interesting, drop Margaret Shuman an email and she'll add you to the list until we get 12. She will send you some jury instructions to look over before March 10. You do not need to know the story to be a juror. In fact, only what is presented during the trial can be considered in determining a verdict. Anyone may attend and be part of the gallery (audience); children who are old enough not to be a distraction in the courtroom are welcome to come with a parent, and any students age 13 and up are welcome without a parent.

Our students would love to let you in on the work they have done for the trial!
