American History: The Unfinished Nation, a Concise History of the American People

What does it mean to be American?  The purpose of this course is to provide students with the necessary information to answer this question.  The Unfinished Nation is a one year American history survey course.  Students will begin with the Colonial Period and end with the present day.  We will use the text, primary documents, and current events  to navigate the answer to our class question.   As we approach each new era of American history and development, students will be able to identify and analyze how the American identity has evolved for all of the groups that are an important part of the history of our great nation. The class will include lecture and note taking, class discussions and student presentations.

This course covers the necessary standards for High School U.S. History for the state of Georgia per www.georgiastandards.org.
