Sewing Basics

Course Objective:

The objective is to understand and master the basic processes: measuring, cutting, marking, stitching by hand and machine, and pressing. Students will be able to identify and use a variety of sewing implements, practice safe sewing with accurate measuring techniques, and follow directions/patterns properly in order to achieve desired results.

Units of Study: (subject to change)

·         Color/Design/Hand Sewing

·         Machine Identification/Safety and Construction

·         Clothing and Self- Expression

·         Fiber and Fabrics – tote bag/drawstring

·         Following a pattern – pajama shorts

Cost : $65 /month Duration: 1.5hrs/wk


Materials and supplies to be purchased as needed.
