Glencoe Life Science (middle school) provided by teacher, ISBN # 0028277376. The Life Science class provides a detailed introduction to the methods, concepts, and vocabulary of general biology. Topics covered include biological classification, cell biology, Mendelian genetics, tour of the five kingdoms of living things, cellular reproduction and DNA, viruses, and human anatomy/physiology. Laboratory sessions include microscope work, dissections, model work, live invertebrate animal labs, biochemistry labs, and many other kinds of labs. Students will gain an appreciation for the amazing diversity of life on earth and of the tremendous ingenuity of the Creator. The Life Science class is structured and well managed. Instruction is engaging and inspiring. Learning is accomplished in a fun way. Each class consists of one hour of instruction and one hour of laboratory work/activity. This is a combined high school and middle school class. Middle school students work from a Life Science textbook. If you are planning to take my class for high school biology, you should wait and take it in high school. If you are not planning to take my class for high school, then this Life Science class will be perfect to prepare you for Biology. If you are waiting to take my class till high school, these are some great middle school classes to consider: physical science, earth science/systems, astronomy, environmental science, or forensics. Students should expect up to 3 hours of work completed at home each week. Tuition: $65/month for 9 months. Payments are September through May. Lab Fee $100/one time payment. Due in August. Minimum Age: 12 by August 1st. Supplies to bring to class: 3 ring binder notebook paper pencils pens colored pencils Access to a computer, printer, and internet is needed.
