A FUN Approach to the Fundamentals

No matter the career, the ability to write and communicate effectively is essential.  This course will give students the extra training necessary to achieve essential writing and communication skills.  The class is designed for students in the 6th – 8th grades, and it meets Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).

 II.   Course Aims:

In this age of texting, Instagram, and direct messaging, much of the ability to write well has been virtually lost. The All-Write Lab capitalizes on the fascination young people have with multi-media and uses it as a tool to make writing fun.  All-Write will put FUN, in the fundamentals”.  Students learn to conceptualize, draft, revise, edit, and draft a final written work or essay. Each writing project uses innovative techniques to help improve writing, and public presentation skills.

The sessions are set up as writing challenges. The goal is to provide a comprehensive language and writing curriculum that inspires creativity and critical thinking. We also analyze books and other written works.

III.    Grades:

Grades will be based on attendance, homework, quizzes, papers, participation and the final project.
