Willkommen !
Why learn Deutsch (German) ?

  • German is the most widely spoken language in Europe.
  • In the United States, 1 in 6 people claim German ancestry.
  • Atlanta has over 250 German companies here doing business (Mercedes, Siemens, Porsche, etc.) with many more state-wide (Atlanta Magazine).
  • German is “the economic powerhouse in Europe.”
  • Germany ranks first among foreign countries with facilities in Georgia (Atlanta Business Chronicle).
  • A background in German can be particularly helpful for a career in engineering, science, medicine, and the arts.

Join me for a fun journey learning the German language with a native speaker, I’ll also love to share my German culture with you!
Homework will be done mostly online, using the interactive part of the textbook and workbook as well as quizlet for vocabulary. Students should allow around 45 minutes, 4 days a week for assignments.
This class will give you a full year's worth of high school credit plus prepare you to take the optional, but highly recommended, National German Exam in January. (In the last years my students have received gold and silver medals!!) You could also take the A1 German test (offered at the Goethe Institute in Atlanta).
I will place a group order for the printed text and workbooks and supply you with the online access codes when classes begin.
For each class please bring something to write (notebook and pen, plus some colored pencils and sharpener), as well as the printed materials and a folder.
Feel free to email me with questions , I'll be happy to help you!

Textbook: Klett "Portfolio Deutsch 1"  (print and interactive online access text- and workbook), will be supplied by the teacher and is covered with the supply fee
Minimum class size:
5 students
Tuition: $450/semester due the first class of the semester
Supply Fee:  $130 for the year due in August (covers the printed text- and workbook as well as an online access for both with exercises for the homework and other supplies)
Optional: participation in the National German Exam in January, cost $60
