Class Summary:
This course will use modern art mediums to explore Scripture, Biblical History and Current Events while using learned and applied skills to complete weekly assignments individually and in groups. Each semester several assigned projects will be on display. There will also be opportunities for students to showcase their individual pieces and portfolios in Art Shows and Art Competitions. Class Topics: • Art as a Daily Practice - students will commit daily to use their journals to focus on a biblical confession by creating something in any medium (collages, paint, drawings, sketches, or photos with a camera, cell phone or tablet, etc. • Drawing – students will focus on developing observational skills, drawing techniques and creative thinking using a range of drawing mediums that includes charcoal, graphite, ink and mixed media. • Painting - students will explore and experience a variety of painting techniques, media approaches with colors, textures, oils, acrylics and canvases. • Clay Sculptures - students will work with their hands and carving tools as well as their creative minds to mold and explore the relationships between form and content. One project each semester will be casted and glazed. • Mixed Media – students will use different materials to create art that will include, but not limited to, paint, cloth, paper, wood, jewels and reusable objects Tuition: Yearly Supply Fee: $125 - pay by August 13
