Career Preparation and Job Readiness Program

Note: This class starts at 9:30.

In today’s increasingly competitive and uncertain business environment, one factor consistently distinguishes successful organizations: employees who are prepared to face challenges with confidence, resilience, and adaptability. Research across industries confirms that employers place the highest value on durable, transferable skills—such as leadership, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability—that remain essential regardless of changing technologies or job roles. While technical skills continue to matter, their rapidly evolving nature further underscores the importance of strong durable skills in the modern workforce.

This unique and powerful course is designed to help students intentionally develop these essential durable skills-- and more, equipping them to thrive in a dynamic and unpredictable 21st century workplace. Students will gain practical tools and insights to strengthen their confidence, decision-making, and resilience as they prepare for their next steps—whether that path leads to college, technical or trade school, or directly into the workforce.

During the spring semester students will participate in an exciting Employer Based Learning Opportunity (EPIC).  This is a formal work-based applications opportunity where students will work with selected employers as they apply and reinforce their skills in actual workplace situations.

This program, which is especially focused on preparing students for their “road ahead,” is led by Tim Jarnagin, a seasoned business leader with more than 40 years of executive and entrepreneurial experience. Tim has held senior leadership roles at one of the nation’s largest firms and has successfully operated his own management consulting, coaching, training, and project management business. His real-world perspective brings meaningful, practical insight to the classroom and connects course concepts directly to today’s workplace realities.
