Ashwin Lewis has a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Mathematics and Biochemistry from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. He also has a Honnours degree in Mathematics from the same university. In addition to this, Ashwin also graduated with a Post-graduate degree in the teaching of Mathematics. After moving to the United States in 2003, he graduated with a Masters degree in Mathematics Education from Walden University. From 1994 through 2003 he was the department chair at a High school in South Africa and taught courses in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. He is a T-5 certified High School Math teacher in the state of Georgia. In 2003 he joined the Dekalb County School System, GA In 2006 he moved with his family to Gwinnett County and joined Gwinnett County Public Schools where he taught High School Math for 5 years. In 2012 he left GCPS to teach as an adjunct math instructor at Gwinnett Technical College. This also allowed him more time to tutor and teach home school students.

Betsy has been teaching students for the past 15 years, at every level from elementary school through college. She holds a doctorate in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego, where she began her career as a teaching assistant and discovered a passion for helping students learn. Following graduate school she spent several years as a college professor before coming home to homeschool her own three children. She has taught science classes to elementary, middle, and high school-level homeschoolers. Betsy specializes in chemistry and physics but can help in other areas of science as well. She tutors from her home in Decatur.
Rates: $50/hr for private or semi-private tutoring (two students of similar level may come together and share the cost of a session).
** Class: Betsy teaches a late elementary/middle-school Chemistry and Physics course and a High School Chemistry course from her Decatur home. Students meet weekly for 1.5 hours to receive instruction and perform experiments together, and are assigned reading and homework to complete during the week. Minimum 4 students, maximum 6 per class; please inquire if interested for further details.
Ms. Suwoto is a native Chinese, and has been teaching Chinese for 12 years including 3 years at LAC. She has a MBA and a B.A. degree in English Literature. She has taught children and adults of many different ethnic heritages, and some of them went on to study Chinese in colleges in the U.S. or China. During her spare time, Ms. Julia volunteers at her church and other non-profit organizations.

Some Eastside teachers provide parents with names of peer tutors who can assist students in classes that those peers have already excelled in. Teachers vet these students according to their ability to relate well to others and explain course material clearly. For peer tutor contacts, please email individual instructors. Typical rate: $10 per 30 min. session.
